Macro-Friendly Green Smoothie Bowl

I don’t know about y’all, but every smoothie bowl I’ve come across contains minimal protein and between 60-100 grams of sugar (that’s more than a soda).  I have nothing against sugar, but a massive serving of sugar (even if it’s from fruit) in the absence of protein is going to have me looking for my next meal within 30 minutes.  Your typical acai bowl comes with plenty of toppings, too- so now we’re looking at a 500-800 calorie bowl that provides very little satiety.  That being said, I came up with my own little recipe to fix that problem!

This bowl is macro-friendly, plant-based, full of greens, low in sugar, and delicious.

  • 1 scoop of vanilla plant-based protein powder (I use Amazing Grass Superfoods)
  • 1 medium banana
  • 1 avocado half
  • 1 tablespoon of chia, hemp, or flax seeds
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 handful of kale
  • splash of almond milk, cashew, or coconut milk (add more if consistency is too thick)
  • stevia to taste
  • 5-6 ice cubes

Blend until smooth.  Add your favorite fruit, granola, and other toppings. Enjoy!
